new years ideas, amercian college for medical careers8 Unique Ideas to Say Goodbye to 2016

The American College for Medical Careers in Orlando is gearing up for the year 2017. It’s an exciting time, because new students will be signing up for our programs and current students will be returning from break. The New Year is a great time to make new resolutions, set new goals, and think about where you want your career to go.

With 2016 drawing to a close, we want to wish everyone a safe and happy new year. Do you have plans for New Year’s Eve? Many people go to fireworks or watch the ball drop on Times Square, but if you are looking for something new and different to do this year, it may be time to change up your routine. Try ringing in the new year with these unique ideas:

1. Celebrate New Year’s around the time zones
Every time a new hour strikes, it’s the New Year somewhere in the world. Read about other New Year’s traditions across the globe, and put on a similar celebration of your own when the new year arrives in those places.

2. Make homemade noisemakers and hats
Upcycle items around your house and turn them into noisemakers and party hats for the new year. The more outlandish the better! Get ideas on Pinterest.

3. Make a time capsule
Write up your memories of the past year, and include memorabilia like ticket stubs, photographs, and other memorable items from the year. Make a top 10 list of your predictions for the new year. Enclose everything in an envelope or plastic container and store the time capsule until next year at this time.

4. Decorate your holiday tree with New Year’s Resolutions
Take the day to put away your holiday ornaments and decorate your tree with New Year’s resolutions. Write the resolutions on colorful notecards and hang them on the tree just like ornaments.

5. Reflect on last year
Put up a clothesline around your house, and hang memorabilia from the past year. This is a fun decoration and a good way to reflect on the year’s important events.

6. Have a New Year’s resolution lottery
Each person puts one resolution in a jar, and then everyone picks one out. This becomes your new year’s resolution. You can write serious resolutions or you can get creative and put in funny resolutions. No matter how you do it, you will get everyone laughing.

7. Get fortune cookies
Find a restaurant or online site that sells fortune cookies. It’s always good to know your fortune as a new year is beginning!

8. Confetti balloons
Fill balloons with confetti, blow them up, and then pop them at midnight. It will be loud and messy, but worth it!

Whether you try these new ideas, or stick with the tried-and-true traditions, the American College for Medical Careers wishes all its staff and students a safe and fun-filled New Year!
